In 2011, the sales volume of commercial vehicles in China was 4.0327 million units, which was 6.31% lower than that in 2010. This has dragged the “back foot” of the entire market to a certain extent, because the passenger vehicle market still increased by 5.19%.

Let us look at the "big three" in the commercial vehicle market performance.

In the statistics of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in 2011, Dongfeng Group had two companies, among which 680,300 were sold by Dongfeng, ranking first in the previous year’s leader, Beiqi Futian, and Shandong Kaima sold 81,200. Dongfeng commercial vehicles are more balanced. Take the market of trucks as an example, Dongfeng Company ranks first in the market segments for heavy goods vehicles, medium goods vehicles, mini trucks, etc., ranking second in the market for light trucks; and occupying a medium size in the passenger car market. Although it ranks first in the domestic commercial vehicle market, Dongfeng Group is not at ease because there is a close chase behind it - Beiqi Foton.

In 2011, Beiqi Foton sold 632,300 commercial vehicles. Among them, the sales of light goods vehicles were 395,600, which was 72% higher than the 230,000 units of Dongfeng Group. Heavy-duty trucks also had sales of more than 100,000 units, ranking fourth in this market segment. A few days ago, Beiqi Foton and Germany's Daimler Group announced joint ventures in the field of commercial vehicles, and their development prospects are widely viewed.

In addition, although in the industry statistics, when the Middle East Feng Xiaokang ranked first in the minivan market, if Changan Group's Chongqing Changan, Hafei, Changhe and other companies accumulated sales, it was greatly exceeded.

In the same year, FAW Group sold 287,500 commercial vehicles, including 8,219 FAW Toyota. As a "family" who competes with Dongfeng Group for decades, commercial vehicle sales are now less than half that of Dongfeng Group. FAW Group has apparently withdrawn from the competition of the first group of commercial vehicle companies, and competed with second-tier manufacturers such as Jinbei Automobile and Jianghuai Automobile. Commercial vehicles were originally the root of FAW Group’s origins. The “Liberation” brand medium-sized trucks were once almost monopolized in the domestic market, and “little liberation” was also used in the light-duty vehicle market. Commercial vehicles are undoubtedly the short-board of SAIC, even if it is a traditional commercial vehicle group such as Nanjing Auto. In 2011, SAIC Motor sold 234,500 commercial vehicles, which accounted for only 5.91% of the Group's total sales. There were no particularly leading companies or products in the commercial vehicle segment. The bright spot that can be regarded as the bright spot is Nangang's light-duty trucks, which sold a total of 113,800 vehicles, including less than 40,000 light-duty buses, less than 70,000 light-duty trucks, and only 5,000 buses. In addition, SAIC's minivan sales were only 83,200, ranking fourth in the market.
