Debris flow hazard

Debris flows often have the characteristics of sudden outbursts, fierce and rapid development. It has the dual functions of collapse, landslide and flood damage, and its damage degree is more extensive and serious than single collapse, landslide and flood damage. Its harm to human beings is manifested in the following four aspects:

(1) Harm to settlements: One of the most common hazards of mudslides is to rush into villages, towns, and destroy houses, factories, enterprises, and other facilities. Flooding no animals, destroying the land, and even causing disasters in the village. (2) damage to roads, railways: the debris flow can be directly buried station, railway, highway, destroying roadbed, bridges and culverts and other facilities, resulting in traffic disruption, it can cause trains, cars subversion running, causing serious personal injury. Sometimes mudslides flow into rivers, causing large changes in rivers, indirectly destroying roads, railways and other structures, and even forcing roads to reroute, causing huge economic losses. For example, in Shimengou, 394 kilometers away from Ganchuan Highway, the mudslide occurred in July 1978, which was blocked by the Longjiang River. The road was flooded for 1 kilometer. The Bailong River was diverted to turn the roadbed about two kilometers into the main river, road, revetment and aqueduct. All were destroyed. Since 1962, this section has been forced to reroute three times due to the impact of the mudslide on the other side. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, mudslides have caused enormous losses that cannot be estimated for China's railways and highways.

(3) Harm to water conservancy and hydropower projects: mainly to destroy hydropower stations, water diversion channels and trench buildings, to bury buried water tailraces, and to accumulate reservoirs and abrade dam surfaces.

(4) Harm to the mine: It is mainly to destroy the mine and its facilities, to bury the mine tunnel, to injure the mine personnel, to stop the production and stop production, and even to scrap the mine.
