Taking this as a starting point, this study intends to develop a portable leaf area detector system that is small in size, low in power consumption, high in accuracy, and low in cost. It also aims to improve the inadequacies of foreign existing leaf area detectors so that they can be satisfied. The demand for measuring leaf area in various studies will eventually increase the efficiency and input-output ratio of basic scientific research in China.

According to the purpose of research, this research uses the principle of automatic control, combined with microprocessors, light-emitting diodes, light-sensitive sensors and related peripheral devices to measure the leaf area by means of photoelectric scanning, and ultimately achieves measurement, acquisition, storage, display and data of leaf area. Transmission and other functions. Mainly include the following research content:
(1) Screen the leaf area meter with suitable hardware devices, including signal sources, sensors, displays, buttons, etc., and design appropriate control circuits based on the selected components.
(2) The software design of the leaf area meter is based on the type of components and their circuits, and the control of each component to achieve the proposed function.
(3) Combine software and hardware to make component adjustments and instrument commissioning to achieve leaf area measurements.
(4) Test system performance, analyze errors and causes, then improve, debug, and improve.
