Child safety seat sampling failure rate exceeds 30%

The AQSIQ announced a white paper on the import of children's car safety seats for inspection in 2016. Sampling of 83 batches of products was sent to the laboratory for testing. 27 batches of unqualified products were detected, involving 25,000 products, and the failure rate was 32.53%.

In 2016, 16 directly-affiliated inspection and approval agencies across the country received a total of 994 batches of imported child safety car seats, 284,500, with a value of 33.294 million US dollars. Imported products mainly come from 19 countries and regions including Germany, France, the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, and South Korea. The brands involved include CONCORD, RECARO, CYBEX, GRACO, Besafe, STM, Volvo, and Audi. Among them, Germany imported the most batches, reaching 456 batches, accounting for 46% of the total batch of imports, followed by China (export re-imports), the United States, France, the United Kingdom.

There is also an unqualified safety performance item that detects combustion performance. Two batches of products that were detected as unacceptable in the combustion performance this time involved two brands, one from the Ridesafer brand in Vietnam and one from the RACARO brand in Germany.

20 batches of sample identification labels and instructions failed

In addition to the unsatisfactory safety performance, there were 20 batches of identification labels and instructions in the 27 batches of samples tested by the laboratory. At the inspection at the port of entry, there were a total of 115 batches of products with product labeling, problems with the manual, and defects in the product itself that were damaged during transportation.

The person in charge of the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine introduced that the on-site inspections and the unqualified products found in the sampling inspections have all been returned. The inspection and quarantine department also informed the distributors of product problems and conducted product rectification in accordance with China's national standard.

Haitao child safety seat sampling quality is poor or even unable to use

In 2016, the Shenzhen Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau carried out spot checks on child safety seats imported by cross-border e-commerce vendors. None of the four batches of samples tested had passed the inspection, and all the samples had problems with identification and specification failures. This year, the Guangzhou Airport Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau also carried out spot checks on child safety seats imported by cross-border e-commerce providers. Samples were all taken from the e-commerce platform. Among the five batches of samples tested, three were unqualified.
