According to reports, Meishan Iron & Steel, together with its parent company, is rapidly developing its goal of building Baosteel into a world-class steel company. The new plant will meet the supply of oxygen, nitrogen and argon for the Meishan Steel expansion plan. The total capacity of these two air separation plants will reach about 60,000 cubic meters of oxygen per hour. Prior to the two new installations, the joint venture between Praxair and Meishan Iron and Steel has already operated another three Praxair air separation plants.

Praxair Builds Two Air Separation Devices for Mei Steel
Praxair (China) Investment Co., Ltd. and a subsidiary of Baosteel Co., Ltd., Shanghai-based Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. signed a long-term gas supply agreement on April 2. According to this agreement, Praxair (China) will build two new air separation units and start production in the fourth quarter of 2009 and the third quarter of 2010, respectively.
