Wärtsilä receives orders for integrated propulsion and power generation systems for two 2,1800-ton chemical tankers

Recently, two 2,800 DWT chemical tankers built by the Singapore shipyard Triyards at the Vietnamese shipyard will use Wärtsilä integrated propulsion and power generation systems. The two chemical tankers are custom-made for Swiss-Canadian Maritime Co., Ltd. and will be managed by ABC Maritime, a Swiss-based company. Wärtsilä’s contract was signed in November 2015 and includes a priority for the supply of three additional ship systems.

It is understood that the contract represents the largest equipment supply contract that Wärtsilä delivered to the Vietnamese shipyard. Wärtsilä's ability to provide a total solution package and the ability to provide engineering and integrated solutions is a key factor in receiving this contract.
Hans Laheij, president of Wärtsilä Shipyard Sales, said, “These ships are the first chemical tankers built by the two Vietnamese shipyards. I am very happy to cooperate with the Vietnamese shipyard again.”
Wärtsilä will provide an adjustable pitch propeller, a tunnel gearbox, a shaft alternator, two tunnel propellers, three Auxpac generator sets, and one Wärtsilä propulsion for each chemical tanker. The three 153-meter chemical tankers will be delivered to the shipowner in 2017 and will be responsible for transportation between Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Montreal, Canada.
It is reported that the new oil tanker is 153 meters long and is being built in two different shipyards in Vietnam. After being delivered to the shipowner in 2017, it will be managed by Swiss ABC Maritime Company and operate the route between Rotterdam, the Netherlands and Montreal, Canada.
