The Hornsea Project One offshore wind farm project is currently being built by the British Babcock Rosyth, located 120 km off the coast of Yorkshire in the north of England, with an area of ​​approximately 407 square kilometers. Upon completion, the wind farm will be operated by DONG Energy and will be the world's largest offshore wind farm with a capacity of 1,200 megawatts for more than 1 million UK homes.
The contract was signed in January this year. The contract mainly involves the supply of Wärtsilä low-voltage switchboards for the world's first offshore reactive power compensation station. This reactive power compensation station is expected to be completed by Babcock in 2018 and put into operation in 2020. This reactive power compensation station will enable the high voltage AC system to operate with longer length cables.

The switchboards are designed to withstand harsh marine environments and enhance installation reliability.
