Corvus receives PSV's hybrid power supply battery power
Recently, Corvus Energy received a contract from Farstad Shipping to supply battery power to the hybrid of the "Far Sun" PSV in the second half of this year.
It is reported that this lithium-ion-based energy storage system, called Orca ESS, will supply power to the PSV's propulsion system grid, enabling environmentally friendly and low-cost operations. After delivery, the vessel will be leased to Statoil for long-term operation.
Ronald Hansen, Global Service Manager of Corvus Energy, said, “We have experienced many ship types. We have worked closely with Vard Shipyard to develop a lean solution that meets environmental, safety, performance and operating costs requirements. The Orca ESS system is ideally suited for this PSV hybrid."
This energy storage system will be used throughout the operation of this PSV, especially in dynamic positioning and port operations, which can significantly reduce fuel consumption and pollution emissions, and the noise level is reduced when docked.
To date, Corvus has completed more than 80 Corvus ESS marine installations with a total power of over 45 MWh and an operating time of up to 1 million hours.
