From January to July 2013, the U.S. metal processing machine tool orders stood at US$2.93 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 7.2%. Among them, orders for metal-cutting machine tools were 2.64 billion U.S. dollars, down 6.2% year-on-year; orders for forming machine tools were 280 million U.S. dollars, down 15.7% year-on-year.
From the perspective of the regional division of metal processing orders, in the first 7 months, the orders of the five federal states in the eastern, central and northern United States were the highest, and the orders for metal processing machine tools ranked second in the nine federal states in the west, north and north, and 13 in the northeast. State orders ranked third, fourth in the five federal states in the south-central region, fifth in the western 10 federal states, and lowest in the southeastern seven federal states. From the order of year-on-year comparisons, the demand for machine tools in the northeast is relatively large, reaching a growth rate of 3.6%, the western region achieving an increase of 1%, the orders for machine tools in other regions decreasing, and the growth in the northeast and west mainly comes from metal-cutting machine tools.
Douglas Woods, president of the American Manufacturing Technology Association, said that the large drop in orders in July was not common in the summer. This was related to weak orders for durable goods and a slowdown in the industrial output index. Despite the decline in seasonal orders, the US manufacturing situation is optimistic.
It is noteworthy that regional order conditions, driven by precision components and the aviation industry, have resulted in machine tool orders in the northeast and west regions reaching the highest average and cumulative values in 15 years. The current manufacturing PMI index has been increasing for three consecutive months. It is expected that the machine tool industry will grow moderately by the end of the year.
July US machine tool orders fell 23.6% year-on-year
According to statistics, in July, the US orders for metal-cutting machine tools were 340 million U.S. dollars, down 15.3% month-on-month, 11.1% year-on-year, and the order volume was 1937. Orders for forming machine tools were down by 82.5%, down by 86.5% and 86.8% year-on-year. The number of 81 units was 54 fewer than the previous quarter.
