Russian-French researchers develop Mercury ultraviolet spectrum analyzer

[China Instrument Network Instrument R&D] The Russian Aerospace Group and the French National Space Research Center recently signed a cooperation agreement to jointly develop the Mercury ultraviolet spectrum analyzer (PHEBUS) components.

The spectrometer will be installed on the Mercury Orbiter of the European Space Agency of the development “Bepi Colombo”. The analyzer uses dual-frequency analysis of the EUV spectrum vacuum ultraviolet region 55-155 nm and the far-ultraviolet region 145-315 nm. The structure uses a rotating mirror for near-observer 360° observations.

The National Space Research Center of France, as the research and development party of the Mercury Orbital Flight Detector, is responsible for the leadership of the research and development of the Mercury outer gas spectrum analyzer, the construction of the corresponding ground support system, and the system integration and data collection, transmission, and preservation management of the equipment.

The Russian Aerospace Group undertakes R&D, manufacturing and independent testing of equipment rotation systems, providing equipment to the French side and installation and testing on aircraft. The Russian Federation participates in the research and development of space institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The French side has a French atmosphere, environment and Space Observation Laboratory.

The "Bepi Colombo" development project is a collaboration of the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) on the Mercury exploration program. It is a nickname of the Italian mathematician, scientist and engineer Giuseppe Colombo (Berpi Colombo) Name it. The task is to study the material composition of the surface and surrounding space of Mercury, observe the invisible matter on the ground of Mercury, evaluate the geological evolution process of the planet, analyze and study the chemical composition and internal structure of the surface of the planet, the origin of the magnetic field and the interaction with the solar wind, and search for ice in the polar region. The existence of such. The plan includes two orbiters, the Mercury Planet Orbiter and the Mercury Magnetosphere Orbiter and the Space Observation Laboratory.

The orbiter is scheduled to be launched in April 2018 and is planned to leap over the Earth once, to leap over Venus twice, to leap Mercury five times, and finally to reach Mercury in 2024. The Mercury Planet Orbiter will be used to map the Mercury map, and the Mercury Magnetosphere Orbiter will be used to study the magnetic field of Mercury.
