Recently, Hefei University of Technology held a conference on “Automobile Tail Gas Emissions Reduction Technologyâ€. It was stated that HHI had successfully developed a diesel particulate collection system and successfully solved the problem of automobile exhaust emission control . It is understood that this research achievement has a significant effect on the removal of particulate matter ( PM2.5 ) from diesel exhaust emissions, and diesel engines are the most important source of PM2.5 emissions from vehicles. It is expected that this technology will be used on a number of buses in Hefei this year. The principle of the project is to transform the exhaust system of a diesel engine into a wall-flow filter channel carrier made of high-porosity materials such as cordierite honeycomb ceramics or carbonized silicon, so as to collect particulate matter in the exhaust gas and convert the exhaust gas in the vehicle. Particles are "blocked" before they are discharged into the air. When the “intercepted†particles are filled to a set level, the particulates collected are burned through specially designed recycling equipment to produce carbon dioxide. In this way, the trap can resume its filtration function for recycling, so as to achieve long-term effective removal of particulate emissions from the exhaust. In addition, this technology also has the advantages of short regeneration time, no requirement for fuel quality and so on. According to calculations, if only the “Yellow Label Vehicle†under the China Three-emission Standard of Anhui Public Transport System is subjected to emission purification and transformation, nearly 1,000 tons of particulate pollutants can be reduced annually.
