Xi'an Jiaotong University made new progress in the research of transparent ultraviolet detectors
[ Instrument Network Instrument Development ] UV Photodetector is a sensor that can convert ultraviolet light into electrical signals, and plays an important role in defense military, modern industrial production and civil applications. In recent years, with the rise of transparent electronic technology, transparent ultraviolet detectors have gradually become a research hotspot. However, high transmittance and high detection performance (especially fast photoelectric response) are difficult to achieve, and the application of the device in dynamic sensing and ultraviolet communication is restricted.
In response to the above problems, Professor Wang Hong of Xi'an Jiaotong University and his collaborators designed and produced a new self-powered UV photodetection and communication device. Through the asymmetric Schottky junction constructed on both sides of the titanium dioxide film, the built-in electric field can be effectively utilized to realize the rapid separation and collection of photogenerated carriers, so that the device can detect the optical signal under zero bias. The device's photoelectric response speed is as high as 44 nanoseconds and has an average visible light transmission of over 70%. Based on the excellent photoelectric conversion capability of transparent devices, this work demonstrates for the first time a self-powered UV communication system that successfully implements information encryption transmission in the UVC band. This work has important reference value for the design and development of next-generation transparent photoelectric sensors.
The above research results were published in the internationally renowned journal Advanced Functional Materials and selected as the current back cover article entitled "Transparent Self-Powered Ultrafast Ultraviolet Detectors for High Performance Communication Systems" (Solution-Processed Self-Powered Transparent Ultraviolet Photodetectors with Ultrafast Response Speed for High-Performance Communication System). Dr. Fang Huajing, a young teacher at the School of Materials, Xi'an Jiaotong University, is the first author of this article. Professor Wang Hong and Professor Fang Xiaosheng from Fudan University are co-authors of this article. Xi'an Jiaotong University is the first signatory of this article. The cooperation units also include Fudan University, Southern University of Science and Technology and Pennsylvania State University.
The research was supported by the National Natural Science Foundation, the Boxin Project, and the Xi'an Jiaotong University Analysis and Testing Sharing Center.
