Workers are digging to build "water intercepting ditch"

The day before yesterday, at the end of the Yayuan Crossover Bridge at Huancheng Road, Nancheng District, a number of workers were working in a pit more than one meter deep. “We are digging to build the 'water intercepting ditch'.” According to the person in charge of the site supervision, this is mainly the interception of the surface water of the road near the overpass of Yayuan New Village. “With this intercepting ditch, water can be drained directly to the underground culvert pipe network, which can relieve surface water accumulation on the road surface,” said the person in charge.

It is understood that due to various reasons, under the overpass of the Yayuan Garden around Huancheng Road, every time there is heavy rain, there will be different degrees of flooding, and the highest water depth has exceeded 3 meters. In order to reduce the inconvenience caused by flooding to neighboring residents, the relevant city departments in July 2008 had carried out maintenance and broadening of the sewers of the road section. At the same time, an underground pump room was installed and three water pump machines were installed to drain stormwater. Despite the fact that the displacement has more than doubled, the problem of internal defects has still not been effectively solved.

Re-equipped with three pump

In the torrential rain on March 30th, the three water pumping machines under the bridge did not operate, resulting in increased water flow to the bottom of the bridge and flooding the entire bottom of the bridge. According to the Nancheng Public Utilities Service Center, the power of the three pumps is relatively large, but the reservoir is relatively small. "In front of the reservoir, there is no water, and the pump will stop automatically. When the water in the reservoir is too high, the water pump will restart." The center said that the pumps are frequently restarted after the pump is stopped, which may easily cause damage to the pump.

In order to completely solve the problem of internal defects at the bottom of the overpass bridge at Yachengyuan in Huancheng Road, the Nancheng Public Utilities Service Center will also renovate the original pump house and re-equip three automatic pumping pumps, each with an hourly flow rate. 1400 cubic meters. “We will switch to a low-power pump, so the flow rate is not that large, and it is frequency conversion.” The person in charge of the center said that at present, the interception ditch project is stepping up construction and the pump house renovation project has completed the preliminary budget and review work. Recent bids will be completed and put into use by June.
