Goodyear or temporarily shut down its US tire factory to cut inventory

According to foreign media, in order to reduce inventory, Goodyear Tire will temporarily suspend its factory in Fayetteville, North Carolina, USA in August this week.

Richard Evans, a spokesman for Goodyear Tire, said that if the market situation does not improve, the company will consider shutting down the Fayetteville plant for a week, but the company is not considering layoffs.

The Fayetteville plant currently employs 2,800 people and produces 35,000 tires per day. The Fayetteville plant is one of the largest in North Carolina.

As early as 2009, Goodyear had signed a contract with the factory's union that would protect the Fayetteville plant from the risk of being permanently shut down.
