Engineering Plastics: A rising star highlights vitality

The rapid development of China's automotive, electronic and electrical industries has driven the rapid growth in the demand for engineering plastics, and has also driven the development and growth of the domestic engineering plastics industry. The processing capacity and production capacity of domestic enterprises have been greatly improved, together with major engineering plastics in Europe, America and Asia. Manufacturers have come to China to set up factories, so that China has gradually become an important production base of the world's engineering plastics, thus promoting the rapid development of China's engineering plastics import and export trade, especially exports, and made a major leap forward. However, due to the late start, China's engineering plastics industry is still in its infancy, and it is still difficult to meet the growing domestic consumer demand. The major varieties still rely heavily on imports. The import volume far exceeds the export volume, but the export growth rate is far more than Import growth over the same period.
Nylon In recent years, the import and export trade of nylon (PA) in China has shown a rapid increase, and it has seen a leap in 2005. In 2006, China's nylon import and export trade resumed a steady growth, and its growth rate has significantly declined compared with 2005. According to statistics, China exported 76,000 tons of nylon in 2006, an increase of 53.4% year-on-year, with an average export price of 2,891 dollars; imports, 608,000 tons, an increase of 23.1% year-on-year, and an average import price of 2,588 dollars. The import and export volume of nylon in China from 2002 to 2006 is shown in Table 5.
It can be seen that at present, China's nylon is still heavily dependent on imports, but exports have maintained rapid growth, and export growth has exceeded the growth rate of imports during the same period.
From the perspective of export flow, in 2006 China exported nylon to 77 countries around the world. Among them, Hong Kong, China, as the main re-export place, has become China's most important exporter of nylon. In the whole year, it exported a total of 40,000 tons, an increase of 39.5% year-on-year, accounting for more than half of all exports.
From the point of view of the source of imports, Taiwan Province of China is China's major import source. In 2006, the mainland imported 221,000 tons from Taiwan, an increase of 46.9% year-on-year, accounting for more than one-third of the total imports, and the average import price was 2209 US dollars.
In China's nylon import and export trade, it is worth noting that the re-imports of domestic exports occupy a very important position and maintain a substantial increase. In 2006, the import of domestic goods re-imported 3.4 tons, a substantial increase of 54% year-on-year, accounting for 5.6% of the nylon imports during the same period.
Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai are the main focuses of China's nylon import and export trade. In 2006, the export of nylon from the above four provinces was 28,000 tons, 20,000 tons, 10,000 tons and 0.8 million tons, respectively, an increase of 18%, 110%, 43% and 68% respectively, accounting for 90% of all exports. The above; import volume was 192,000 tons, 6.2 million tons 102,000 tons and 102,000 tons, respectively, year-on-year increase of 7%, 43%, 40% and 38%, accounting for more than 3/4 of the total imports.
From the perspective of the types of enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises are the main force of China's nylon import and export trade, with rapid growth in imports and exports; state-owned enterprises' exports have increased rapidly and imports have fallen slightly. In 2006, foreign-invested enterprises exported 58,000 tons of nylon, an increase of 47.4% year-on-year, accounting for 76% of total exports during the same period; imports of 347,000 tons, an increase of 32.4%, accounting for 57% of total imports during the same period. State-owned and private enterprises exported 8,364 tons and 8,568 tons, respectively, an increase of 146.4% and 39.1% year-on-year, respectively; imports of 115,000 tons and 140,000 tons, respectively, decreased 0.5% year-on-year and increased by 30%.
Primary Shape PC In recent years, the import and export trade of China's polycarbonate (PC) has maintained a rapid growth trend, but the growth rate has slowed down significantly in 2005, and resumed rapid growth in 2006, and the export growth rate hit a record high in recent years. According to statistics, China exported 185,000 tons of PCs in 2006, an increase of 40.4% year-on-year, with an average export price of US$2,885; imports of 900,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.1%, and an average import price of US$2,924. The specific situation of China's PC import and export volume from 2002 to 2006 is shown in Table 6.
From the perspective of export flow, Asia's exports to China's PC are mainly concentrated. In 2006, exports accounted for 99% of all exports. Among them, Hong Kong, China, as the major re-exporter has become the most important export market. In 2006, the mainland exported a total of 155,000 tons of PCs to Hong Kong, an increase of 34.5% year-on-year, accounting for 84% of all exports.
From the perspective of the source of imports, China's PC imports are relatively decentralized, and the share of domestic exports re-imports is relatively large, and it has grown rapidly. Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan Province of China are major importers of PCs imported from China. The re-import volume of domestic exports was only lower than that imported from Thailand, a rapid increase of 58.5% year-on-year, accounting for 13% of all imports.
China's PC import and export trade is mainly concentrated in Guangdong, Shanghai and Jiangsu and Zhejiang. Among them, Guangdong, Shanghai and Zhejiang are the major sources of China's PC exports, and Guangdong and Shanghai are the major import destinations. In 2006, PCs exported from Guangdong, Shanghai, and Zhejiang were 100,000 tons, 50,000 tons, and 33,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 8.6%, 169.9%, and 68.3% year-on-year, respectively, accounting for 98.7% of total exports; imports from Guangdong and Shanghai. They were 486,000 tons and 222,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 15% and 49% respectively, accounting for more than 3/4 of the total imports.
From the perspective of the types of enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises are the main force of China's PC import and export trade, and both have maintained rapid growth; state-owned enterprises' imports and exports have all declined. In 2006, foreign-invested enterprises exported PCs by 163,000 tons, an increase of 50.6% year-on-year, accounting for 87.6% of total exports during the same period; and imported 629,000 tons, an increase of 29% year-on-year, accounting for 70% of total imports during the same period.
Primary Form POM The POM industry in China has developed rapidly in recent years. The scale of exports has continued to expand and it has maintained rapid growth. Imports have gradually slowed down and fell for the first time in 2005, but the absolute volume is still at a relatively high level. More than the export volume. In 2006, China's POM exported 33,000 tons, an increase of 52.8% over the same period of last year. The average export price was 1,592 US dollars; and the import of 172,000 tons was basically the same as the same period of last year. The average import price was 1,719 US dollars. The specific situation of China's POM import and export volume from 2002 to 2006 is shown in Table 7.
Hong Kong as the major re-export area has become the most important export market. In 2006, the Mainland exported a total of 23,000 tons of POM to Hong Kong, an increase of 87.5% year-on-year, accounting for 71% of all exports.
From the perspective of imports, China's Taiwan Province, Japan, and South Korea are the major producers of POM imported from China. In addition, the re-imports of domestic exports accounted for a larger proportion of the total import volume, and the growth rate was rapid.
Jiangsu and Guangdong are the major export sources and import destinations of China's POM. In 2006, 23,000 tons of POM were exported from Jiangsu, an increase of 100% year-on-year, accounting for 71% of total exports; Guangdong imported 107,000 tons of POM, accounting for 62% of all imports.
From the perspective of the types of enterprises, foreign-invested enterprises are the main force in China's POM import and export trade, especially exports, and maintain rapid growth in exports, with imports growing slightly. In 2006, almost all of China's POM was exported from foreign-invested enterprises, with exports of nearly 32,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 52.8%, accounting for 98% of total exports; imports of 95,000 tons, a slight increase of 1.95% year-on-year, accounting for a total of 55 %. State-owned and private enterprises imported 46,000 tons and 26,000 tons, respectively, an increase of 146.4% and 39.1% year-on-year respectively.
Since PET joined the WTO, China's polyethylene terephthalate (PET) industry has developed rapidly and the pattern of import and export trade has undergone tremendous changes. In 2002, the export volume of PET increased by 10.8 times year-on-year, and the volume of exports in 2005 increased by 3.6 times year-on-year, exceeding the import volume for the first time in that year. In 2006, exports continued to grow on the basis of rapid growth in exports in 2005. The export volume reached 771,000 tons, which was more than three times the amount of imports. The specific situation of China's PET import and export from 2002 to 2006 is shown in Table 8.
From the perspective of export flow, China's PET export market is relatively decentralized. In 2006, PET was exported to 94 countries in the world. Among them, Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian Federation occupy the top three destinations for exports, reaching 104,000 tons, 95,000 tons and 64,000 tons, respectively.
From the perspective of the main source of imports, Iran’s export of PET to China increased sharply in 2006 and became the largest producer of PET in China for the first time; followed by South Korea, Taiwan Province of China, Japan, and the United States, and at the same time, the import volume of domestic exports recovered rapidly. increase. In 2006, China imported 58,000 tons of PET, 53,000 tons, 49,000 tons, 22,000 tons and 19,000 tons of PET from the above five major markets. The re-import volume of domestic goods exports was nearly 10,000 tons, an increase of 337% year-on-year.
In the import and export trade of PET, the main products are slices. Among them, high-viscosity PET chips exported 580,000 tons in 2006, an increase of 12.4% year-on-year; other PET chips exported 260,000 tons, an increase of 121.5% year-on-year, and both exports accounted for 99.7% of all exports. Imports were dominated by other PET chips, with an import volume of 175,000 tons, accounting for 74.2% of all imports.
